Taking Morphine Pre And Post Back Surgeries. Totally Irritant, Doesn T Care For Anyone. What To Do ?
my spouse has been taking morphine pre- and post backsurgerie for 3 years now. his reasoning with daily issues is totally irrational, answers are changing, does not care about anything or anyone. he thinks that I am making any of his previous answers up if they are diffrerent than the current one. does not care about our situation at all: just having my income, I work my job, try to work overtime whenever I can. he does not participate in anything that involves our daily life., everything lies on my shoulder. he has been a loving and caring husband for 20 yrs., now he does not care if I hurt = cooking for 3 hrs., but he won t eat anything (1 example).
Thanks for the query. The symptoms are worrisome for either an encephalopathy from medications or metabolic causes, versus a form of dementia from an indifferentiated cause. Sometimes, very severe depression can manifest as pseudo-dementia.
It is in his (and yours) best interest to be evaluated; a general internist could be the first to evaluate.
Hope that helps, wish you the best,
Dr Brenes-Salazar MD
