Taking Nexium For Hiatus Hernia. Have Moth Ulcers, Reddish Bumps On The Tongue. Due To Medication?

My 19 year old son has been nexium for a hital hernia. He said his hands and feet are red and feel sunburned, but they are not sunburnt. His mouth has ulcers in it and he has several fever blisters on his lip. Not to mention his tongue is very red with bumps. could this me the medication? He also stated he is itchy all over.

It is quite likely that your son is allergic to the medication. I recommend that you stop the medication, give your son an over the counter anti allergy medication( anti histamines like claritine) and take him to his doctor at the earliest. If there appears any indication of swelling of the face/lips/ tongue, take him to the emergency department of your nearest hospital.

Has he been on medications like Nexium before? (eg. pantoprazole, omeprazole). Is this the first time he is taking this drug?
