Taking Paxil. Severe Weight Gain. Is It Safe To Try HCG Diet While On Paxil?

Hello, I am currently taking PAXIL and I noticed a significant weight gain. I gained over ten pounds and am nearly at 200. In the past I've successfully lost weight on the hcg diet and I was wondering if I can go back on while taking PAXIL? I've heard it's really hard to lose weight while on it but it should be possible right?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
You are overweight and taking Paroxetine (Paxil) 200 pounds, partly may be due to side effect of this drug but ,you have not mentioned why this drug is prescribed to you.
Weight gain is also genetic and increased intake of calories and less physical exercise.
If you want to lose weight, reduce your daily intake by 500 calories. Over the course of a 1 week, that is 3500 calories, which is the loss of a 1 pound. Gradual weight loss is the way to do it.You can add exercise like brisk walking for 60 minutes daily to have better result.
HCG diet, severe restriction of calories in diet is not good and difficult to sustain for long duration. There is no substantial evidence that HCG increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction. Please do not go for such diet.
Please discuss with your Physician about weight loss and treatment.
