Taking Syntharoid For Symptoms Of Hypothyroidism But Thyroid Test Normal. What Other Tests To Be Taken?
Hi, i am a 43 years old woman. I have hypothyroidism for last two years. I am taking syntharoid 50 mcg, however, suffer from all the symtoms of hypo despite normal thyroid test. What other tests do you recommend? What would include a full harmone panel test? Thanks.
Welcome to HCM. I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. Please let me know your thyroid function reports. If your thyroid function tests are absolutely normal, then your tiredness is not related to thyroid problem. If I were your treating doctor I would have looked for other causes like Vitamin D deficiency, diabetes, high cholesterol etc.
Some lab do full hormone panel for thyroid which include T3, T4, FT4,FT3, Thyroid binding globulin, antithyroid antibodies etc which are needed only in selected situations. This you doctor may order if needed.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. If thyroid function tests are normal it may not be due to hypothyroidism. Consult your doctor and have evaluated for other diseases like anaemia, diabetes, dyslipidaemia etc whose symptoms are common with hypothyroidism.
Full thyroid panel include : TSH, T4,T3,Free T4, Free T3, TBG and thyroid antibodies. The number of tests vary according to labs.
