Terrible Rectum Pains, No Appetite, History Of Neuralgia. Could It Be Spreading To Rectum?

my dad s been sick with terrific rectum pains for about a week. He has no appetite; not really eating anything solid. Prior condition post neuralgia from chicken pox . Wondering if the neuralgia is spreading around in his body. Has had neuralgia in his head for one year. Recent pains are back and rib pains and now the problem with the rectum. Feeling like he has to poop but nothing. He is currently taking pain medicine, blood pressure med, plavix, lisonotrol, omegzipril?,metropolo?, Do you think it could be neuralgia in the rectum? Or do you think it might be something more serious.

Hi,

Noted the history about your Father about having pain in rectum and unable to pass stool, past history of pains here and there as you have mentioned.
The most probable reasons I can think about are:
Proctalgia fugax is a known condition and can be diagnosed by examination, investigations like colonoscopy and so on.
The cause is usually psychological problems.
Ans this can explain the pains in head, ribs and so on.
This can be part of fibromyalgia and thus related to the stress and anxiety.
I would advise him the following:
Consult a Doctor and have proper investigations if needed under the Specialists.
Proper counselling and medications should solve the problems.
If colonoscopy and other investigations show something positive it can be treated accordingly.
