Test Report Says Irregular Soft Tissue In Nasopharynx. What Does It Mean. Is It A Big Problem?

Hi! My name is Mayur. My uncle has recently gone through the test and got the report stating that " Mild irregular soft tissue thickening in the nasopharynx with effacement of left sided fossa of rossenmullar" . I'm worried if it is a big problem or it could be a big trouble in the upcoming time. Please suggest as I m staying in the small town and scared too.
Thank you

Hello,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.

From your query i suspect your uncle may have Nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
Because most common irregular soft tissue mass in nasopharynx is most commonly a Nasopharyngeal carcinoma. And also it shows effacement in side of fossa of rosenmuller.
It may cause nasal obstruction, bleeding from nose, hearing loss etc.

If left untreated it may grow nerves in and around and also affect the eyes.

It can be treated by external beam radiotherapy and chemotherapy may be needed.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

Regards,
Dr.Manjeth
