Tested Positive For H-pylori. Having Nausea. Any Antibiotics Without Side Effects?
I tested positive for H-Pylori, but the only symptom I have is nausea. I'm parinoid about taking medications and would like to know if there's alternative antibiots that can be taken instead of prescription meds. I was prescribed Clarithromycin 500 mg and Flagyl 500 mg to be taken together, for 2 weeks. After reading the possible side effects, I'm terrified! If antibiotics are necessary, are there others that have less frightening side effects. I had a near death experience a few years ago from Protonix and that has made me even more fearful. I've always been so healthy and never had to take much medication. I'm 81 and not on any prescription meds.
H pylori is a very common infection and it is the leading cause for dyspepsia type of symptoms. Antibiotics is the only treatment for it and it is to be taken for a total of two weeks, I would suggest you to take these medications . In order to avoid nausea and dyspepsia you can take an antacid like tab rabeprazole or pantoprazole with domperidone.Make sure you are not already taking them as most of the prescriptions for anti h pylori come with an antacid
I hope I was of help, please reply to me if you have any further queries
