Thigh, Knee Pain When Climbing Stairs. Using Heating Pad For Pain Relief. Recommended Exercises?

I fell a week and a half ago & for the past four or five days, both my thigh & knee hurt when climbing stairs. And at the end of the day my knee hurts quite a bit & at night it is impossible to sleep without a heating pad on my thigh & knee. are there any exercises or stretches you would recommend? YYYY@YYYY

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
It seems that you have suffered a mild soft tissue injury due to the fall. This will subside in 2-3 weeks with a hot fomentation and using an elastic knee brace for support. Exercise is not recommended during pain.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
