Throbbing Pain, Headaches And Swollen Eye After Heavy Bleeding From Head Injury

I fell and cut my left side of my head about three four inches right about near the pariernal bone area. The center of gash was the deepest and I bleed heavyly, but applied pressure until it stopped. My head throbbed for days, I had headaches, but it subsided. That was about two months ago, however I do expereience throbbing and it has become increasingly more on each day. I had headaches to the point my left eye feels swollen, at times I am nauseous, but I will take headache pills, and sleep it off, but the next day it will start up, but more so by late afternoon I feel the throbbing pain on my head down to my left eye to my left ear. I find that at times, when I rest my body reacts like I am having a mild seisure. I hit my head against the post base outside my front porch. I am schedule for an MRI, but not sure what to expect.

Neurologist, Surgical 's  Response
I'm s sorry to hear about your accident. Your injury seems to have been complicated by the healing of this wound. I am so glad that you are getting an MRI. That will be able to rule out anything really bad or anything that needs to be dealt with right away.

As far as seizures go. Yes a head-injury can lead to seizures but it is pretty rare. If the seizure-like symptoms keep up then you might need to see a neurologist and see about getting worked up for a seizure disorder.

But before you do anything. I want to ask you about the scalp wound. Has it healed? Is it dry? Do you notice anything coming out of it (Fluids, Pus)? Do you have any fevers or chills currently? An infected wound can cause alot of pain and swelling and lead to even more serious problems. So i'm hoping that your scalp wound has been adequately treated.

So all in all. The MRI is a very good decision and should help you and your doctor decide what to do next. In the mean time. Make sure that your scalp wound is healthy and healing well.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact me through Healthcaremagic and I hope you feel better soon.
