Tingling Sensation In Thighs, Strained Gluteus Medius Muscle. History Of Tight It Band. Advise?

I'm a very athletic individual (I run and weight train 3-4 days/week and do yoga once a week), and I just started to notice a tingling sensation in one of my thighs when my leg is bent at a 90 degree angle and weight bearing. I notice the sensation most when I am doing leg press and lunges. What do you think the problem is?
I've also had a history of tight IT band on the same side, and have strained my gluteus medius muscle also on that side.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello

Thanks for writing to us,
I am Dr Vaibbhav Gandhi , I am Orthopaedic Surgeon.

Spondylitis of lumbar spine will lead to diffuse pain in spine and in severe cases tingling numbness in thigh and leg. This kind of pain is due to compression of nerve because of spinal disc bulge. Nerve compression lead to radiating pain, which aggravated on long time sitting in same particular position.

Check your vit B12 level and vit D3 level through blood test.

If possible I suggest you to consult an orthopaedic surgeon nearby

Accordingly advise her medicines such as anti inflammatory drugs, muscle relaxant physiotherapy (Short wave diathermy, ultrasound) .

Stop exercise till you are free from spasm

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Take care.
