Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 3 year old has woken up around the same time for the past four nights, crying and then vomiting. During the day she seems fine, she has only had a decrease in appetite over the last two days. She is running a slight fever thats around 99. I took her to the ER yesterday and she was put on amoxicillan because they said that she has a bladder infection. She is still vomiting. WHat should I do?
Hi,
welcome to healthcare magic.
How many times is she vomiting-only at night? Does she have signs of dehydration-check with your paeditrician? Is she feeling lethargic, irritated?how is her thirst? urine output?
I think, urine test might have done and culture sensitivity (report takes 1-2 days)to determine specific bacteria and antibiotic might be awaiting.
Take the full course of antibiotic prescribed otherwise recurrence can happen.
Give her plenty of fluids which helps to flush the infection.
Encourage her to urinate regularly, kids ignore the urge, rather play or just ignore and stasis of urine will help microorganism grow better.
Wish her good health.
