Told To Need Hemorrhoidectomy, Concerned About Recovery?

I am trying to learn about recovery from hemorrhoidectomy, is it as bad as many write in several of the boards? I'd also like to get some suggestions on how to select a CRS to evaluate my situation. I went to a CRS today and was told I would need a hemorrhoidectomy, but the doctor does not get good reviews and my intuition and experience with him thus far leaves me wanting to get another opinion.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi ! You have not mentioned anything about your present symptoms and how you were diagnosed with hemorrhoids. However, once you are diagnosed, then it needs surgery. The recovery after hemorrhoid surgery is not bad as you might have read. Apart from the usual post operative pain which is with any kind of surgery in the initial 24 to 48 hours, the discomfort gradually gets relieved with time.
The latest technique of stapling of the hemorrhoids carries less post operative discomfort, but you have to find out a minimally invasive surgeon who does it regularly in your area.
The only thing you should be careful about is the personal hygiene which you should take care about specially after passing stool, so that the operated area remains clean. Also you should make some dietary modifications and include more of roughage, fresh fruits and enough liquids in your diet so that you do not get constipated as constipation gives rise to the problem of hemorrhoids.
Wishing you an early recovery.
