Took Ciprofloxacin For Bladder Infection. Urge To Pee And Burning Back Continues. Should I Continue Medication?
Hi, I have a bladder infection and started taking Ciprofloxacin 2 days ago. My doctor also proscribed something that turned my pee yellow but took away the pain. I was only proscribed the second drug for two days. Since running out of the pain killing pilI still have the urge to pee all the time and the burning is back. Does this mean that Ciproloxacin is not working for my bladder infection, or do I just need to carry on with it longer? I don't have a fever but I have been feeling a dull ache in my back...
Good Day and thank you for being with Healthcare Magic!
I think you may have to wait for at least 4-5 days before shifting your antibiotics to a different one. Shifting too soon may contribute to antibiotic resistance which is not good. You need to drink plenty of water to make your urine more diluted and will decrease the pain on your urination. You may need to get a urine culture if it is not yet done to be able to determine the organism and the appropriate antibiotic to use.
