Took Monistat For A Yeast Infection. How To Prevent It From Recurring?
Hello, I've recently caught a yeast infection. No I haven't went to a doctor to check it out. I just simply bought Monistat 7 and also a feminine wash. Could you tell me more about my infection? What ways could I have caught it? How to prevent it? Would it been better if I had made an appointment to confirm it's a yeast infection. I haven't had a physical in years nor ever visited a gynecologist. I'm sexually active.
Yeast infection of the vagina is usually a candidal fungal infection caused by the fungus Candida albicans.
It usually occurs as a result of lack of personal hygiene. It also is transmitted sexually by a partner, in case your partner had it. In such a case, both the partners would need to be treated to prevent re-infection.
You could take empirical or Prophylactic treatment for the same with Clotrimazole vaginal cream or ointment. You have done the same, taken Monistat. Good!
Yes, it would be ideal to confirm the same by a gynecologist.
Since you are sexually active, practice safe sex with unknown partners.
I hope this helps you!
