I have been have severe pain in head, neck, shoulders, and right side of body. I have had extreme swelling in neck and hands. Numbness and tingling down right side. I can feel my pulse throughout body especially where there is pain. I have been on bed rest on and off for 4 weeks. In the ER 2 times in the last 4 weeks. Pumped full of steroids and on pain killers. I have had 2CAT scans which both showed inflammation in neck area. Medical bills are piling. I have an appt. scheduled with neurologist but not till 1/2/14. Yest. Was really bad. I was in extreme pain my jaw felt like a clamp was on it. My head felt like it was going to explode. Any ideas? How do I get through until the 2nd?

Hello,

That your CT scan has excluded any bleeds around the brain is a good sign, and inflammation around the neck area could mean spondylitis plus nerve compression causing tingling.
MRI is the best option (scan) to know soft tissue structures it is compressing.

Pain relief medications are the option, steroids can lower inflammation but is not the right choice of drug long-term.
You need to know when you se your neurologist if the cause requires any surgical correction.
Pregabalin is a drug that lowers tingling or nerve root pain by differential signal responses and works quite well.

Best Wishes.
