Trans Vaginal Ultrasound Done. What Does The Result Suggest?
Hello, I would like your thoughts on a transvaginal ultrasound done for postmenopausal bleeding. Report states uterus is 9.5x4.5x5.5 cm. Myometrial echotexture is diffusely hetergeneous. A leiomyoma in the posterior superior uterine corpus measures 2x1x1.5 cm which is smaller than a study in 2007. There is a 1x1x1 cm leiomyoma in anterior fundal myometrium not previously seen. Endometrium is midline and 5 mm in thickness. Right ovary is 2x1x2 cm. Simple follicle measures 1x0.5x1 cm. Left ovary is 1.5x1x2 cm and has normal postmenopausal appearance. There is no free pelvic fluid. Thank you for your time.
Grossly speaking, these ultrasound findings are normal. The report suggest that you had a fibroid that it is now regressing in size. However, a new one has been noticed which was not earlier seen. The report of this ultrasounds does not seem to reveal the cause of this post menopausal bleed. Other structures that can also be responsible for post menopausal bleed like the vaginal and cervix should be examined carefully.
I know the anxiety post menopausal bleeding raises. Stay cal and work with your doctors towards getting answers and solutions to any on going process.
I wish you well. Hope you found this piece helpful. If you have more questions, please ask them and we shall gladly address them. I wish you well. Dr. Ditah, MD.
