Transformed To A Eunuch. Is This Very Common? Is There A Treatment?

Hi
My wife has become a "eunuch" and has been for 10 years now. In the 2 years leading up to this her window of "normal" got smaller and smaller until there is no normal. I have two friends who are experiencing the same thing. From researching the internet I have found that this is a fairly common thing. My Question is is there a cure for this, has there been anyone cured. If so what is the "general" treatment.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Eunuch is a term where a person has gender identity problems with respect to their external genitalia. These people usually have feminine body characteristics with a normal or abnormal female genitalia and most of them are born this way with chromosomal abnormalities. Some people assume eunuchoid features by taking injections of male and female sex hormones and by castration.

In your situation, if your wife has been developing male body characteristics, she must be examined by an endocrinologist and a psychiatrist to know her physiological and mental sexual orientation. Then she can take counseling and medication to reverse the changes under medical supervision. This is done over a period of months. If she wants to change her gender through gender reassignment surgery, there are options and legal procedures involved. Such treatment is given only with patient consent.

Hope this helps.

Psychiatrist Dr. Sushil Kumar Sompur's  Response
Hi there ~

I understand your concerns. It is not easy to say that someone can become a eunuch for the last so many years. They are born that way - either psychologically or physiologically. I hope you understand. Please visit with a sexologist if you need further clarification. I believe that there is no cure for this.

I hope this helped and I wish you the very best. Take care!
