General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi ! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

I am not aware to which part of the globe you belong to. In case you are in an area where tuberculosis is seen not infrequently, he has to be investigated accordingly to rule this out. In case he is diabetic, some kind of occult infection may give rise to such un explained fever and weight loss. I am sure this must have been excluded in his blood tests as you have mentioned. One of the other possibility is an occult malignancy which did not show it up till now. This has to be further investigated into and management be done accordingly. If nothing comes to be positive, in case of I being your treating doctor, would go for a broad spectrum antibiotics after sending samples of blood and urine for culture sensitivity report. Also his hydration and electrolytes status has to be monitored.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in solving this problem. Thanks for using the healthcare magic forum for your health query. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
