Twisted Ankle, Swollen , Hurts, Unable To Stand For Long Time, Unable To Touch. Is It Fractured?
I rolled my ankle running about 2 weeks ago. The first two days it hurt to bare any weight. Now it hurts especially after standing for long period of time but I keep pushing through it. I'm training for a 5k at the end if the month. I've taken the past 2 weeks off. My ankle is still swollen at the end of each day and hurts to turn it side to side. It also hurts to flex my foot. It hurts a lot to touch my ankle on the outside by the ankle bone. Could it be broken?
The symptoms can be either due to fracture or soft tissue injury. Symptomatic relief can be obtained by ice application, rest, intake of Analgesics like Diclofenac & application of analgesic+muscle relaxant gel. Since the symptoms are persisting since 2 weeks, it is advisable to get an X ray of the ankle joint done to rule out any possibility of fracture. Further management steps can be taken based on that.
Take care.
