USG PVR Suggested For Pain Under The Rib And Lower Abdomen. What Is This Test For?
Dear Doctor, Greetings!! I had gone for a general check-up for pain under left rib and in lower abdomen , my doctor has prescribed me for USG PVR. What does this test mean and what will it help in evaluating? While I was browsing about pain under left rib and in the lower abdomen, I was getting very bad results online. For left rib pain, people have been struggling to find the reason and some have even been diagnosed with some dreadful diseases like lymphoma . How can I make sure, I am safe? I am not a hypochondriac but these symptoms have been with me for a few months.
According to your symptoms and investigation you have advised, you are seems to have pain originated from kidney and urinary bladder region.
For evaluating patients with voiding dysfunction, noninvasive test to measure of postvoid residual urine volume (PVR) by USG is also called USG PVR.
It is useful in evaluating patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), potential urinary problem as a storage disorder, voiding disorder, or a combination of both. It is not uncommon for abnormalities of the voiding phase to cause problems in the storage phase, for example, the occurrence of bladder overactivity with bladder outlet obstruction (BOO).
So you should go for advised test, it cause nothing harm to the body and will help you in diagnosis followed by management.
Regards,
Dr. Naresh Jain
