Hello and welcome to HCM.

Thank you for your query.

I have gone through your query, and the appearance of a greenish discharge along with lower abdominal pain and other symptoms of an infection, for which you are being treated, all point towards infections like trichomoniasis, etc; not just a simple UTI. These have a totally different treatment regimen and is usually treated with medication like metronidazole 500 mg, twice daily.

I would have preferred to learn about your sexual status, which you have failed to mention in your query, but if you are indeed sexually active, then it would be best to abstain from sexual intercourse right away. Also, you will have to inform your sexual partner to get tested as well.

Bactrim is the combination of two antibiotics, and is quite an effective medication, it should help you, but not the specific treatment for the condition you could be having. So if you do not experience an improvement in your condition within 2-48 hours of initiation of therapy, then I would request you to re-visit your doctor for a change in antibiotics.

I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-shoaib-khan/64581 . I would gladly help you.

Best wishes.
