Ultrasound Report Showing Small Follicles, Multiple Cysts In Ovaries. PCOS Diagnosed. Any Suggestions?
I have the results of two ultrasounds, the first taken in 2010, indicating: "...ovaries measure 3.2X1.3X1.2cm on the right and 2.7X1.1X5.8cm on the left. Bilateral small follicles are identified. Normal flow is demonstrated by color Doppler". What are small follicles? What does normal flow mean? The second ultra sound was taken 2 months ago where they saw multiple cysts on both ovaries. Should I be concerned? I have regular periods, but have acne at times. The Dr. said I have PCOS, but my sugar levels, thyroid are normal. Maybe it's androgen hormone? Not sure what to think or expect :( Any suggestions on what I should look into as we are planning on becoming pregnant this year.
Small follicles in ovaries are normal follicles which have been abnormally arrested at varying stages of maturation.Normal flow on color doppler means your ovaries are having normal blood flow.Findings of your second USG also suggest PCOS. Acne can be due to some hormonal disturbance due to PCOS .As you are planning pregnancy, you cannot take hormonal treatment. You should take local non-hormonal treatment. You can plan your pregnancy as your cycles are normal.
Hope this helps.
