Unable To Urinate Or Defecate, Catheter Fitted, Unable To Pass Wind

My husband was admitted to hospital last Monday because he had been unable to urinate (just small leaks) or defecate for several days. He had a catheter fitted and he lost 2litres of urine Since then he has had 2 enemas, after the 2nd he asked for a commode twice and the catheter was removed. That was 2 days ago, last night he had another catheter fitted because he could only dribble involuntarily and he is no longer passing wind.

Your husband might be having benign orostatic hypertrophy and should be shown to a urologist.You might need to get a ultrasound done along with a blood test called PSA(prostate specific antigen).His symptoms can be alleviated by taking one T Dutas T at nightwhich may ease his symptoms.If his symptoms persist the urologist might suggest a TURP(trans urethral resection of the prostate).As for your husband not passing stools giving him two bananas daily (if he is not a diabetic) will help him.If he is a diabetic give himjust a banana daily.
