Uncontrolled Diabetic, Light Headed All Day, Low Pulse Rate. Any Suggestions ?

My friend is an uncontrolled diabetic. He is 31 y.o., 6', 130lbs. He's been having light headedness all day, so far as seeing white but not passing out. I checked his blood-sugar it was 102. I checked his blood pressure: I took it twice while he was laying on his back: 106/68 95 pulse, 118/80 94 pulse. He then stood up then sat down, it was 98/60 98 pulse. Last time he stood through the whole thing while the lightheadedness got worse and my monitor read 59/44 100 pulse! Any suggestions?

DEAR SIR/MADAM

AFTER REVIEWING HISTORY YOUR FRIEND MIGHT BE HAVING AUTONOMIC NEUROPATHY WITH POSTURAL HYPOTENSION. IT IS VERY MUCH ESSENTIAL TO TAKE CERTAIN PRECAUTIONS
SO STOP ALL MEDICINES WHICH CAUSES HYPOTENSION, FOR THAT REVIEW THE LIST OF MEDICINES. INCREASE THE SALT AND WATER INTAKE ONLY IF HE IS HAVING NORMAL KIDNEY FUNCTIONS, SO REVIEW KIDNEY FUNCTIONS.

General & Family Physician Dr. Pavan Kumar Gupta's  Response
Hello,
Uncontrolled diabetes can cause lightheaded ness and dizziness in both high sugar levels as well as low blood sugar levels.
Uncontrolled diabetics can also result in low blood pressure which can cause lightheaded ness.
Your friend is very young and he should be very disciplined in taking his anti diabetic medications.
He must make sure that his blood sugar levels, blood pressure levels and blood cholesterol levels are meticulously controlled.
The best would be to consult an internal medicine specialist or a diabetologist and get a comprehensive and proper treatment under his guidance.
Last but not the least.Along with medications, proper dietary restrictions and regular aerobic exercises are must for him.
Remember diabetes is a silent killer and strikes you when you are totally unaware of it.
Thanks
