Urinary Tract Or Bladder Infection. Have Stone, Trying To Go Through Bladder Wall. Taking Bactrim. Help?
I went to urologist today because was in ER all day Monday for a stone. Never had before. on Wednesday it happened again and I thought I had another but doctor explained was same stone but had shifted its position to where it wasn't causing a blockage ie: no pain Tuesday and then must have shifted again Wednesday to cause pain again. I today with terrible urge to urinate and thought oh great, now a urinary tract or bladder infection. doctor saying probably stone trying to go through bladder wall. he put me on Bactrim just in case and I bought the over the counter pills for the urge pain. I have only taken the first two and its been about 3 1/2hrs. no relief yet. I have taken in the past and noticed a much quicker response. so do you think I just haven't taken enough yet or that the stone is trying to go through wall of bladder?
welcome to the forum. If the stone is small - say less than 6 mm, then you may wait. Otherwise, it needs to be removed or broken by doing a minor endoscopic operative procedure. If the stone is small, waiting for a week or so is an option and duration in hours cant be a criteria. If the abdominal pain is more than the hours you had mentioned, then you need immediate pain relief. Hope this helps
Hello Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have irritative symptoms of urination due impacted stone in intramural portion (In the wall of the bladder)of the ureter.
You have not mentioned size of the stone as reported on ultrasound scanning. These irritative symptoms will persist till the stones passes down into bladder.which may take another 2-3 days.
Please take broad spectrum antibiotics along with antispasmodics like Cyclopam and smooth muscle relaxants like Droteverine( Drotin) twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.
Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.
Ensure to drink more water. so that you will pass more urine. This will help in passing the stone down early.
If the stone is smaller than 6mm it will pass out through urethra with little pain.in urethra when it is being passed. Dr.Patil.
