Varying Blood Pressure After Exercising, Feeling Discomfort, Breathlessness. Normal?
Hello I just wanted to ask a cardiology-based question. I have recently just exercised and during exercising I decided to take my blood pressure reading. I found out my blood pressure more over my diastolic went down from 62 to 57... my systolic went down from 113 to 103... I am now back at home and I feel very weird.. A little bit of lack of breath and now my blood pressure is at sys 113 by dia 53 - Is this normal I do feel a bit weird, If anyone could give me some advice I would highly appreciate it :).
Hi there,
Thanks for writing in.
I am a qualified and certified cardiologist. I read your question with diligence.
You interrupted exercise to take blood pressure if that is so then explanation is simple. While exercising, systolic blood pressure goes up. Diastolic stays same in most. In other cases it may slightly decrease even. When we stop exercise blood vessels of muscles relax and systolic pressure falls significantly almost back to normal in 120 seconds in most. If by stopping exercise to measure the blood pressure took you that much time variation is understandable. On the other hand if blood pressure fell while doing exercise and recorded by someone else then it is a serious issue and you ought to see a doctor. A little bit lack of breath is expected. Good Luck.
Best Wishes
