Very Grubby Looking Nails And Excessive Growth Of Cuticles, Please Advise Me

Hi, My 5 year old son has very grubby nails. The nail surface is very rough and some of his toe nails just split in the middle. He seems to have some ridges on the nails and the cuticles grow excessively. Could there be a problem that is reflecting in his nails? He is otherwise a very active and normal child. Please advise. Thanks.

Hi.. I have heard that nail problems can be indicative of few medical conditions. Conditions such as anaemia, heart disease... So it is better that you see a doctor and check out if any he has any of those conditions..

This is an indication of calcium deficiency. Give milk & its allied preparations. But there can be medical anomalies also your son needs to be evaluated.

Thanks for query,
It seems that your son might have anemia and multivitamin deficiency.
He might have some worm infestation too.
Give him multivitamin and iron syrup and calcium.
Please see that he may not play with dust or dust coated rides outside.
There is another possibility of having fungal infection of nails,for this consult your doctor.
