Vesicoureteral Reflux Of Bladder, Increased Urine WBC, Increased AST Liver Enzyme, Carpal Tunnel. Urinalysis Done. Interpret

MUCOUS, UR SED, QL, AUTOMATED COUNT

Interpret Urinary analysis lab value? I have a son 6 mo. with vesicourethral reflux of left bladder, increased
urine wbc 11-25, and am wondering what these abbreviations mean.

different lab value and symptoms:
increased AST liver enzyme and itchy palms.
I do have carpal tunnel bilateral but saw it could be
from fatty liver? biliary colic, etc.?

Hi,
It looks like your son has a urinary tract infection. If he is not an any antibiotic, I suggest you make sure that you get his urine culture done as soon as possible, and also start him on a good antibiotic till the infection comes down. I also will be happy if you continue a low dose antibiotic till he becomes one year of age. duration of treatment will depend on the grade of reflux, and smaller grades of reflux usually disappear with age, but even larger grades improve with time. The indication for intervention would be recurrent infections despite antibiotic protection or development of new scars in the kidney seen by a radio-nuclide scan.
