Was Diagnosed With UTI, Vaginal Itching, Light Discharge. Taken Macrobid. Side Effects?

Hi there, I was diagnosed with a UTI and was prescribed Macrobid. I have been taking 2 a day as prescribed. I have 3 pills left. I began noticing vaginal itching Tuesday night, so much that it woke me up in the middle of the night. Today, partnered with the itching, I am experiencing some light discharge. Is this normal? It has been years since I have taken Macrobid, but I do not remember having these side effects.

Hi,
you say you are taking Macrobid years before,without any allergic reaction.Sometimes the allergy may develop later also. There will be itching with very less discharge in allergic reaction.
In such a case, withdraw the pill & ask for alternative medicine to your Doctor. Some anti allergic medicine may be given by him.

The itching with white (milk/curd like) discharge is more likely to be fungal infection of vagina.
The local hygene with treatment of both sex partners is the remedy.
Flucanozole ointment & vaginal pessaries can be used
. Oral medications are to be prescribed after physical examination.

From what you have told, it appears that you are suffering from vaginal infection.Itching in genitals associated with discharge are the symptoms of vaginal infection.These symptoms of yours doesnt seems to be the side effect of your medicine.
Kindly consult a gyne, get examined and treatment accordingly

macrobid doesn't cause any such side effect. probably it is unrelated problem.
macrobid can cause itching in general, but not specific to vagina. some light discharge is normal for any women.

allergy can start at any dose, any point of time.

see your gynecologist for other vaginal infection.
