Watery Stool. Diabetic, Had Respiratory Failure. Is It Due To Excess Medication? Suggestions?
my mom is 63 yr old.she is a diabetic patient since last 123 years.recently that is last month she was hospitalized for respiratory failure. In the month of february this year as well she was hospitalized for intestine paralysis. but with treatment she recovered. Since last three days she is complaining of loose motion- watery stool. what could be the reason and how it can be cured. Is it due to excessive medication or any particular medicine prescribed? Doctor please help me out.
Loose stool can occur as result of infection, inflammation of the bowel, side effects of some medication such as metformin or it can be related to her diabetes. Some diabetics have damage to the nerve supply to the intestine which can result in changes in stool frequency.
In the case of infection, there may be a history of contact with a person who has a history of infection, in some cases fever or vomiting.
In light of her previous history it may be best for her to be assessed by her doctor.
I hope this helps
