Hello and welcome to HCM, Any sensation- taste, sight, hearing, touch are all controlled by specific areas in the brain. Damage to that specific area in the brain by any cause will lead to permanent damage to that particular sense. This is because the cells of the brain- neurons have no or little ability to regenerate. Stroke or mini-stroke implies cessation of blood supply to a particular area in the brain. Loss of taste sensation after suffering mini-stroke suggests that the part of brain controlling taste sensation has become unresponsive. If mini stroke is the cause, I am afraid there is no treatment for the condition. The most that can be done is prevention of further strokes. You need to discuss this with your neurologist.
