What Are HIV Chances After Having Unprotected Sex?

Hello Doctor
i had sex with a girl before 20 days ,in between i realized the condom was no more protective,after that i had changed the condom and continue the sex .now i am worried. should i go for hiv test and which one to know the satisfactory result and what are chances to get rid of it if it has or not.

thank you for query.The chances of transmission of HIV by sexual route is 1/ 200 to 1/2000 even if the partner is HIV infected.here you have protected intercourse so there is least possibility of getting HIV.You can allay the fears.If you still want to allay the anxiety with 20days in mind you can go for RNA PCR test.It has high specificity at this period.All the best.You can get back for any clarifications.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist.
