What Are Chances Of Improvement After Varicocele Embolisation Treatment?

Hi, my husband had varicella op two months ago. The coils were inserted into his veins blocking the blood. I am afraid of getting my hopes up of falling pregnant. Mostly all the comments haven't been favourable for conception, has this procedure overall known to improve or not. Confused and anxious. Thanks

Hi, To know whether the coil treatment will make any difference or not will be guaged by a Semen Analysis which should be done about three months after the surgery. The Gold standard surgery is open surgery and long term follow up of coil treatment is not very well known. I would suggest a Semen analysis after 3 months of the procedure and compare with the previous report. If there is no improvement then you should get a Color Doppler of the Scrotum done again to know whether the Varicocele has been completely treated or not. Do let me know the report and I can guide you along. Take care.
