What Are Side Effects Of Life-long Use Of Eption And Encorate Chrono?
i am an 34yrs aged woman. i m passing through d problem of epillepsy. my problem started since 13 yrs back. i got fit 4 times in last 13 yrs. n i get fits only when 1 am asleep at night. i take eption 100mg twice a day...1 in mrng n 2 at night...n encorate chrono 300mg twice...1 at mrng n 1 at night..... i know i have 2 take these tablets life long as the doctors said... but the que is does these tablets have any side effects? n if yes then what? do i have to face some severe problem in future?

Eptoin contains phenytoin is used in the treatment and prevention of epilepsy or seizures. By reducing the abnormal activities of the nerve cells in the brain, it can control seizures. Long term use of Eptoin may cause some side effects like overgrowth of the gums or gingival hyperplasia, excessive hair growth on the body or face, acnes, coarseness of facial features, weakening of the bones, bone marrow suppression, liver problems etc. You should take this medication as in doses and duration as advised by your doctor.
Encorate Chrono contains sodium valproate which belongs to the group of medications known as antiepiletic medications is used in the treatment and prevention of epilepsy or seizures. Long term use of Encorate Chrono may cause some effects such as osteoporosis, weight gain, gum swelling, tremor, hair loss, liver injury, suicidal thoughts etc. This medication should be taken as long and as directed by your doctor.
