hi doctor, i m rana rahanas .2 month back i put a question related to metformine.still i m continuing the same medicine.but since 2 weak i m feeling constipation, pricking type of pain while defecation and for 2 days during defecation.no other drug taken ,no h/o fever,no h/o of loss of appetite, some times after having food feels like nausea.why?
GI side effects like nausea; vomiting, abdominal bloating, flatulence, anorexia are quite common with Metformin. An extended-release form is available and may have fewer gastrointestinal side effects. However, with the continuation of drug symptoms eventually, subside in the majority of cases. For constipation, take high fiber diet and adequate water.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Tushar Kanti Biswas, Internal Medicine Specialist
