What Are Signs Of Concussion After Getting Hit On Head?
Hello, i hit my head about 4 hours ago (stood on a rake, cartoon-like) and it smacked my head. it bled a little but stopped soon after, the actual bump hurt a bit, but stopped about 10 minutes after, i held ice on it. I didn't feel dizzy, tired, sick or anything. I felt and feel pretty normal. Now, could i have suffered concussion, and is it safe to sleep in a few hours?
Well as you've rightly pointed out symptoms of a Traumatic Brain injury, and the way you've described that you've got hit, looks like you've had a mild traumatic Brain Injury and since you havn't experience any of the alarming symptoms it's alright for you to take rest and sleep in a few hours.
Since this is looking like a Mild Concussion injury, you might later on experience some headache, nothing to worry much , just observe your self for the next 24 hrs keep the Ice-pack onto your head but if any of those alarming signs tend to appear, then do check into your nearest ER and probably get a CT-Scan of Head done.
In the meanwhile don't indulge into any strenuous activities/avoid driving/operating heavy machineries for a few days
Let me know how you stay later on and thanks again for contacting HCM
