What Are The After Effects Of Taking Antibiotics?

I recently finished a 10- day course of 300mg Clindamycin (oral) when I then developed a sore throat, large swelling on my neck with difficulty eating, drinking, and swallowing. I went to ER and was diagnosed with Group A strep and given a CT scan which revealed several lymph nodes in the lumbar region of the submandibular gland with swelling and a right maxillary gland cyst/polyp but no abscess. I was admitted and given 1 IV course of 500mg Azithromycin and 4 courses of IV 600mg CLINDAMYCIN. My WBC was 16.0 on admission and 18.2 when discharged 24 hours later. I still have pain, sore throat, and swelling in the same area although swelling was reduced a bit from IV steroids. Is this normal after so many antibiotics? I still feel terrible and don t know what to do. I have no insurance so ER is only option... Thank you.

Hello
As you mentioned that you have taken clindamycin300 mg orally for 10 days ,but you didn't mention the name of disease for which you took this antibiotics .
Clindamycin never produces such symptoms like sore throat , enlargement of lymph nodes , difficulty in swallowing , drinking .
After discharge from hospital and in spite of azithromycin and clindamycin treatment , you are still having leucocytosis ( increased level of WBCs) ,this clearly indicate that still you are having infection ( most probably ).
Enlargement of lymph node in and around cervical area of neck may be due to these possibilities , these include :
1 Septic pharyngitis , diagnosis can be confirmed swab culture from throat.
2 Tubercular lymphadenitis . diagnosis can be confirmed by biopsy for enlarged lymph nodes.
3 HIV ,infection if there is contract history .
however , there are so many possibilities of such enlargement of lymph nodes , like bacterial , viral ,fungus , carcinoma.
But I recommend you please consult another physician and get his opinion at earliest.
Good luck.
