What Are The Benefits Of Quinine Water?

Is quinine water an effective treatment for leg cramps that occur from sitting or while sleeping? I thought there was an ingredient in quinine that was not so good to ingest on a regular basis.. I m a 73 yr old woman who is on the borderline to obesity and 5 5 tall. I try to drink adequate water.

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Yes, quinine water is effective for leg cramps.
2. However, hypokalemia is a more common cause and needs to be ruled out.
3. Yes, regular intake can cause toxicity resulting in headache, rash, ringing in ears, nausea, dizziness and blurred vision.
4. Dosage should be less than 1000 mg/day. Check content and take it. However, get electrolyte levels tested before you start quinine water.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
