What Are The Causes And Treatments For Painful Urination?

Hello! First of all, I am a recovering heroin addict, at 49 days sober I have yet to have a menstrual cycle. I m not surprised by this, because I am currently on a subutex treatment. I had been abstinent for nearly 9 months, and finally had intercourse with my boyfriend 2days ago. Since then I have had painful urination, I felt could possibly be a UTI. However, it was soon accompanied with light spotting when I wipe, and small blood clots started appearing. Im also still having my normal milk white discharge that I have had since puberty. However the urination problems have gotten so bad im forced to wear a thick sanitary napkin, because sometimes I leak urine without any warning. My question is, what could this possibly be? And are there any OTC remedies you may or may not suggest? I truly appreciate any input or reccomendations you may have. Thank you greatly, Ashley

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Ashley!

In the way you describe it seems to be an urinary tract infection.
To confirm this diagnose I suggest you to do urine test and in the test result might be a lot of pus cells, protein, epithelial cells.
The cause of this infection probably is a bacteria and you need to take an antibiotic to treat it.
You also might have a vaginal infection (probably bacterial vaginosis or candida).
You should do a test to confirm it (the test is called vaginalis smear)
I suggest to consult a doctor so you can do these tests under his care.
He also can prescribe you the right antibiotic for these infections.

Hope I was able to help you.
Take care.
