What Are The Chances Of Child Getting Tuberculosis When With Infected Person?
sir my son is 3 yr old he was together with his grand father for 10 days he had cough diagnosed that his grand father have tuberculosis.we did my child s mantoux it is slightly positive xray normal wbc 11800.at that time he had slight fever also so dr given some antibiotic ,no cough,after 1 wk wbc is 11200. sir this wbc is related to norml chest infection.i am very afraid could u pls reply me

Hai.... You need to be concerned only if the grand father is an open case of TB by definition. I suggest you make sure the Mantoux is done only with 2TU strength. Its not wise to read a mantoux done with a higher strength as far as Indian standards are concerned. Kindly consult your pediatrician in this regard. Happy to help anytime.
