What Are The Chances Of Normal Hair Growth After Being Diagnosed For Hyperthyroidism And Taking Medicines?

I lost a lot of hair (more than half) before i got detected with hyperthyroidism. Post detection, i started taking thyronorm 50mcg and my thyroid levels have leveled out. But now, even after two years of continuing the medication, my hair has improved very little, and it is also very dry unlike the soft and silky hair i used to have before. Is there any chance that my hair will grow back to what it was before? and if yes, then how much more time does it need?!

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Thyronorm is a medication used for hypothyroidism (low levels of thyroid hormone) , to restore normal levels of the thyroid hormone.

Hypothyroidism is one of the causes for hair loss. Normally , the levels are restored to normal, there should be improvement.
If there is not any change then you and your doctor may recheck your thyroid hormone status.

In addition there are other causes for hair loss. You may want to consider consulting a dermatologist.

I hope this helps
