Respected Sir, My father had paralytic attack in right side in 2009. After that he recovered slowly and was showing improvement. However, on 15th April he had another stroke , which seemed mild, though in left side. His CT scan report is attached herewith. He is being treated with manitol and other related medicines by a physician here. I shall like to have your comment on the report. After the stroke it turned out that his blood sugar level was very high ~250. He is feeling anxiety . At present he understands things, can talk, slowly move his legs hands and other parts of bodies, but not in full control. Please advice. Thanks.
Hello Ramjanay,
The CT scan report is not available as you have mentioned. But as you have pointed out here the deficits or weakness are not severe like the previous stroke in 2009. He is likely to recover with physiotherapy and medications like antiplatelets, statins and other supportive medications.
It is important to have strict control of Blood sugar as the two factors which can adversely affect recovery in a stroke patient is High blood sugar and raised temperature. Tight control of blood sugar should be possible with Insulin while he is in the hospital. Also encourage him to do physiotherapy and stay motivated and in a relatively optimistic frame of mind which helps in a positive recovery.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
