What Are The Dark Patches With No Itching On The Skin That Are Since Birth?
My son has a round dark patch about the size of a quarter. No itching, redness, flat to the skin. He has had it since birth & his father had one along with his 2 other children. Theirs were on an upper arm & other places. My son who is now 15years old, in good health, & very active. His father told us once before what they were called but he has since passed away. I feel my son needs this information for himself & for future questions that may be asked about it. To me knowledge power. Also I am a nurse & would like to know more about this condition. Thanks for any help you can give me. Amy

Hello, Your son has Dark round patches which are flat and there is no itching at all in these patches and which are since birth , than these patches are due to melanin (pigment) deposition and must be hereditary , so these can not be removed and you have to bear all these,if there is no any complain than you should not bother about it, these may be lighter with the lapse of time. Good Luck and take care
