What Are The Harmful Effects Of CT Scan With A Contrast For Hematuria?

I have hematuria .. The doctor wants me to undergo a CT scan with a contrasting die. I have had quite a bit of radiation exposure this year . Could we start with an ultrasound scan first and see what that shows given the fact that there is some risk with ct scan albeit low.

Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have hematuria and your Dr has advised Contrast CT scan of the kidney ,ureter and bladder.

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical evaluation and get basic tests like Ultrasound scanning of the bladder done and and if needed or suggested by radiologist proceed further for Contrast CT scan .

Contrast CT scan is not hazardous procedure as feared by you.
