What Are The Long Term Effects Of Oxycontin?

Hello, I have been using oxycontin for about 2 years. 20mg twice a day. I have become dependent on it now but do not abuse it. It really does it's job. I'm just wondering what long term affects I would be looking at. My doc stated he wanted me to use it as long as I use it correctly. Thoughts? Thanks

hi,
Sorry for differing with your doctor, in your health interest.
oxycodone is a potent opiate and a habit forming drug. There is nothing like using correctly!! As you go along, you tend to increase the dose as its efficiency wanes away at low doses, thus pushing you into abuse.
The long term complications are 1. physical dependency 2.respiratory distress 3. reduced cognitive function of brain (probably).
There are deaddiction centres that can make you free from it in 2-3 months, and i suggest you to be out of it at the earliest. all the best.
