What Are The Possible Medications For Allergy Due To Citric Related Food ?

When I eat vinagar, high salted foods, citrus foods, citrus soda, ketchup my tounge will rise/swell on certain areas like a pattern. It will burn and hurt, sometimes bleed. Am I allergic to all this or just really sensitive. Is there anything I can do before eating these foods to help prevent it.

Hi,
Thank you for consulting with HCM, i understand your concern .
By your query i think that you have citrus allergy and that is the reason you see reactions like you mentioned after you consume food that have citric acid.
I suggest you to avoid intake of citrus fruits and foods , incase you consume them accidentally and if you have an allergic reaction i recommend you to take antihistamines like Chlorpheniramine Tablet 20 mg 3-4 times in a day after food.
If your allergic reaction gets worse and you seem to have breathing problems then i suggest you visit your physician who will help you with injectables like epinephrine.
Hope this helps, Write back to me if you seem to have any further queries.
Thank you , wish you good health.
