Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Dear Doctor, My MRI scan showed 2 symtoms (i) right paracentral disc extrusion at L5-S1 level with indentation of the right traversing (S1 nerve root) ; (ii) diffuse disc bulge at L4-5 level with annular tear.
I have current symptoms of nerve pain in my right buttock and the same pain but more intense at the back of my knee on the near outside and the same for my calf muscle.
It has been nearly 3 weeks now since I hurt my back. I am taking Volterne (50mg) and once a day 1 tablet of Arcoxia (90mg). Will I need surgery? Can I 'walk this off? It's improved of course since I was first injured.
Hi,Welcome to Health care magic forum. There is possibility of more indentation over the nerve,So if your doctor advises surgery, it is better to have it. I advise you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis and treatment. I usually prescribe to my patient with such symptoms neurotropic injections for 10 consecutive days, and then periodically along with other medicines. Avoid taking potato, other tubers, tomato, egg, chicken, and sea foods, till the pains are completely cleared. Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
