What Are The Precautions To Be Followed With Supra Pubic Catheter?
I have a patient on a sniff unit with a supra pubic catheter. He is insisting that we use a catheter bag that allows for his urine to drip because the ones we have been using, anti-reflux urinary catheter bags, drain by pressure from the bladder. That what he is insisting on. I have not heard that a supra pubic needs a different drainage bag ....can you educate me on this? ...or the patient incorrect?
Hello and welcome to HCM. All patients on SPC (supra-pubic catheter) are having their catheters connected to a regular urine drainage bag.It doesn't allow urine to reverse the flow of urine into bladder.be relaxed and take care to avoid infection.
