What Are The Questions To Be Asked To The MS Specialist Considering Being Diagnosed With Possible Multiple Sclerosis?

I was diagnosed with probable MS about 2 months ago. The brain MRI showed many lesions throughout the brain. The Dr said if I were in my 20s or 30s, he would say I definitely have MS. I went through all the testing , and will see a specialist in MS Tomorrow. What should I be asking. I am almost 64.

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

At your age it is indeed very improbable to have MS. However since you don't say much about your history and I don't have the MRI at my disposal it's hard for me to express an opinion whether it is indeed MS or another issue like blood vessel issues or infection.
Regarding the questions, you should ask him:
- whether further tests are necessary to confirm the diagnosis,
- what is the prognosis for MS when its onset is so late as in your case,
- what are the data on treatment efficacy at your age,
- what about medication safety at your age, higher risk of complications like infections

I hope to have been of help.
