What Are The Ramifications Of Drinking Alcohol Along With Taking Fluoxetine?
Ramifications of drinking alcohol, whilst daily taking fluoxetine (40mg)? I'm aware of the obvious (aggravating depressive state, suicidal thoughts,...), but I can't help but wonder if any chemical side effects, too. I can't ask my doctor. He won't give me medicine unless I'm 100% sober. Yes, I'm trying to quit. Thanks.
It is possible that the use of alcohol with fluoxetine could result in an increase in nervous system side effects that can possibly occur with fluoxetine.
It can result in increased chance of dizziness, drowsiness and impaired concentration. As you mentioned there may be impaired thinking and judgement.
It would be best not to use any alcohol while you are using this medication.
I hope this helps
